- Members enjoyed a guided tour of the new Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood.

11 September 2005: Walkabout in Culross
- Trust members had a most successful visit to Culross on Sunday 11
September 2005, with an organised guide from The National Trust for
Scotland to take us on a walkabout of the medieval village of Culross
in Fife.

We were guided round the streets viewing the various historic
buildings and learning about their story. We also visited the gardens
of Culross Abbey House where we were shown round by Charles Bruce, son
of the Earl of Elgin. He explained the fascinating history of the
House. After our tour, we enjoyed afternoon tea in the Bessie Bar
Hall, adjacent to Culross Palace which is managed by the National
Trust for Scotland.
Sunday 19 June 2005 : Summer Visit to Burntisland
- The main summer visit was to the Royal Burgh of Burntisland. The town
became a Royal Burgh in 1541. After enjoying refreshments and
watching a short video programme made especially by the Burntisland
Heritage Society, we embarked on a walking tour of the town, guided
by of the Burntisland Civic Trust. . We were rewarded with a visit
to St Columba's Church, reputed to be the first protestant church
built after the Reformation. In 1601, the General Assembly of the
Church of Scotland met in the church and decided to publish a new
authorised or 'King James' version of the Bible. The trip continued
with a visit to the interesting Burgh Chambers, built in 1843, where
the town council met until local government re-organisation The
successful day concluded with an excellent high tea at the
Burntisland Sands Hotel.
- Sunday 8 May 2005: Outing to Ratho
Our first outing after the AGM was a visit to Ratho on Sunday 8 May 2005,
where we were given a guided tour by Ron Day, who had given us such an
interesting introduction to Ratho in early March. With his guidance we
visited the old graveyard of St Mary's Church, crossed the Union Canal
which was completed in 1822 and which effectively put the village on
the map before seeing many of the various buildings of note in the
Main Street. We then climbed out of the village to gain a commanding
of the surrounding countryside. We finally visited a nearby site of
ancient cup and ring marked stones
- Saturday 16 April 2005: Linlithgow Civic Trust Annual General Meeting
- Pardovan House was the venue for the 2005 Annual General Meeting of
the Linlithgow Civic Trust. The meeting was well attended. The Trust
extends its thanks to Frances and Alan Baker for the use of their home.
- Monday 7 March 2005: Lecture on Ratho
- Our own winter lecture this year was given by Ronald Day, who has
spent many years researching the history and personalities of Ratho. Ron
is an authority on the village and he ranged his talk from Ratho BC to
Ratho in CD Rom format! We will follow up Ron's lecture by a visit to
Ratho in early June, when Ron has kindly offered to show us around the
village.
- Tuesday 15 February 2005: Annet Lecture - Chalmers Hall
- The guest speaker, Norrie Melrose, gave an excellent presentation on
the life and work of Alexander Ross, Dominie and Poet of the Angus
Glens entitled "The Roke and the Row and the Dominie" - The connection between Glen Lee and Linlithgow“
- The talk was preceded by vintage film footage of the Marches.
