- Sat 9th October: Book Launch, Linlithgow Library 2:00pm
- The Trust launched a completely revised and expanded edition of Linlithgow – Architecture and History of a Scottish Royal Burgh. Two major contributors to this new edition, Alex Adamson and Ron Smith, spoke at the launch and signed copies of the new book. <More>.
- Sat 9th & Sun 10th Oct: Guided Linlithgow Tour, Linlithgow Library 3:30pm
- Linlithgow Civic Trust and Cittaslow Linlithgow conducted two guided tours of architectural and historic locations in the town to mark the publication of Linlithgow – Architecture and History of a Scottish Royal Burgh and the launch of About Cittaslow.
- Sun. 26 Sept: Visit to Ochiltree Castle 2:30pm
- 32 Members enjoyed this visit. Hazel Hunter and her husband John fell in love with sixteenth-century tower house outside Linlithgow, when they first saw it. They have dedicated their lives to restoring the building, from the basics of replacing cement pointing with lime, to replacing modern features with traditional ones.
Sun. 29 Aug: Visit to Gosford House, Longniddry
- Following an excellent lunch at the Longniddry Arms, members enjoyed a guided tour of Gosford House, the country residence of the Earl of Wemyss and March. The house was designed by Robert Adam and was re-modelled by architect William Young, who also designed the Glasgow City Chambers. On entry, the Marble Hall and Gallery had an unforgettable ‘wow’ factor. Following the guided tour, members enjoyed an exploration of the extensive grounds.
- Wed. 30 June: Tour of West Lothian Civic Centre, Livingston
- Members enjoyed a most instructive conducted tour of the new Civic Centre at Livingston. As well as being the new headquarters of West Lothian Council, with an impressive round Council Chamber, the Civic Centre is the new home for the divisional headquarters of Lothian and Borders Police, and houses the Sheriff and Justice of the Peace, the Crown Office, the Procurator Fiscal Service, the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service and the West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership. There have been benefits from better "joined-up working" and the elimination of lots of movement of people between these organisations.
- Sat. 26 June: Grangemouth Museum Workshop Visit - Cancelled
- This visit was cancelled but will be re-scheduled later in the year.
- Thu. 13 May: Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh
- A full party of 20 members visited the Royal College of Surgeons and enjoyed the exhibits and a guided talk on the collection of paintings and on the history of the College.
- Sat. 17 April: LCT AGM
- The AGM was well attended and proceeded smoothely, with Chris Long standing down after 4 years as Chairman and John Aitken being elected as Chairman for the next 2 years. It was followed by a supper with wine.
- Tue. 16 March: LCT Lecture by Ron Smith
- Ron Smith gave a very interesting illustrated a talk entitled "Gorbals through the Ages - Lessons for Regeneration." to a full house. Past efforts to redevelop the Gorbals have resulted in many buildings failing to serve their designed lifespan. The current redevelopment of Oatlands is likely to be much more successful but has been badly hit by the current economic downturn..
- Thu. 18 February: Annet Lecture by George McKenzie
- Every year the Annet Lecture is organised by Linlithgow Heritage Trust and supported by Linlithgow Civic Trust. This year's excellent Annet Lecture was given by George McKenzie, Keeper of the Records of Scotland, who spoke on the theme of "Kirk, Kin and Kilts".
- Wed. 3 March: “Cast in Iron”, Falkirk
- A few LCT Members enjoyed a talk on the history of the Carron Iron Foundry and the variety of artefacts made there, from canon balls to domestic objects. A collection of articles were be on view.
