Beautiful Scotland in Bloom - Linlithgow Wins 3rd Place
The results of our first entry in "Beautiful Scotland in
Bloom" were better than we could ever have imagined!
Linlithgow came 3rd in the "Medium Town" category
(Electoral roll under 12,000)
There were six finalists and the results were:
1st Forres
2nd Cupar
3rd LINLITHGOW
4th Galashiels
5th Dunblane (New Entrant Winner in 2004)
6th Strathaven
The other 5 towns are not new comers to
Scotland in Bloom. Forres is outstanding and has its own website <click
here> - well worth a look at.
We presumed that our best chance in the competition was to win
the "Best New Entry", however, Muthill won this award and, as
we were in the finals, we are "Best New Entry" runners up.
Jim Saunders took some pictures (which will be added here when
received), is arranging the press release and will be getting
framed copies of the certificates for us to display around the town.
We are still looking for active helpers
on the Planting Group - there in no need to attend the Steering Group meetings.
We shall need
help potting up winter bedding plugs and planting hyacinth bowls in the early
autumn. We also hope to be planting some perennial beds this autumn.
All offers
of help gratefully received.
