Empty Baskets Ready For New Plants

 Emptying the Baskets

On Saturday 8th October Burgh Beautiful volunteers turned up at Clarendon to empty the hanging baskets that had been taken down from the High Street. The baskets were topped up with compost ready for planting up for the winter and placed in the polytunnel.

Plant Delivery

 Plant Delivery

On Thursday 13th October volunteers turned up at Clarendon again to take delivery of plants for the beds and planters around town and also for the hanging baskets that were cleared on the previous Saturday. The operation was run with military precision by Hazel Duguid with the result that everything went very smoothly, from taking the trays off the trolleys; to grouping the plants in front of the sign bearing the plant's name; to making up orders for each volunteer to collect. A special thanks is due to Hazel again this year for the huge amount of planning that goes in to each of these deliveries.

 Filling the Baskets

On Saturday 15th October volunteers braved the wet weather to fill the 110 hanging baskets with plants to brighten the town through the winter. This was achieved in a record breaking time, possibly due to the weather, or maybe the Stand Up To Cancer coffee morning at Cross House, which closed at 1 o'clock.
