Linlithgow - Architecture and History of a Scottish Royal Burgh
Linlithgow Civic Trust is preparing a generously illustrated 64-page book, based on the Architectural and Historical Guide first published by the Trust in 1974, but revised and greatly expanded. The book will contain around 170 photographs, plans and other illustrations, mostly in colour and never previously published, giving a comprehensive account of the architecture and history of Linlithgow. It will be produced to a highly professional standard, with full annotations to each photograph, an original historical overview, and an index.
This publication is scheduled for launch as part of "Celebrate Linlithgow" in October 2010. Civic Trust Members and all interested in the town of Linlithgow are invited to subscribe to, or sponsor, the publication. In return for the advance payment, all subscribers and sponsors will be listed within the new book, and will receive a copy/copies. If you would like to subscribe or to sponsor this publication, please complete the Subscription/Sponsor Form.
Linlithgow Old & New
November 2002 saw the
release of the Trust's most ambitious publication - 'Linlithgow Old and
New' (cover reproduced on the right) - containing both a
photographic record of the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow at the start of the
new Millennium and an authoritative and specially written account of the
town's history. This generously illustrated book (retail price - £15),
with well over 200 colour photographs taken by the townspeople, will be an
essential addition to the bookcase of all with an interest in the town of
Linlithgow or, indeed, in the history and townscape of Scottish Royal
Burghs.
Walks around Linlithgow
November
2008 has seen the release of the Trust's latest publication - Walks
around Linlithgow
The book covers 27 walks, each of which has colour illustrations and an
Ordnance Survey based map. In addition there is a full colour toughened
pull-out map covering all the walks – useful for anyone who fancies a
day’s rambling in the fascinating countryside around the Royal Burgh.
"Walks around Linlithgow is an attractive and absorbing
book providing many interesting snippets of information on local history
and wildlife along the 27 walks. Scottish National Heritage welcomes
its launch and we are glad to support a book that aims to encourage more
people to enjoy the outdoors.” said Neville Makan, Area Officer, SNH.
